Formal Playtests and Alpha Build

After some minor set backs on the game we had to downsize it a small bit in order to get it built on time and to make sure that all of the puzzles worked well. Instead of having the five puzzles, like we originally wanted to for the alpha build of the game, we're only going to have the three that we already have built or have the prototypes of, this will mean that we can focus on getting all of the puzzles done well and on time.

For the alpha we split the puzzles and made sure that we had them built fully with all the mechanics working properly as well as most of the art in the game level. Both the word puzzle and the garden puzzle were fully built for the formal playtest but there was a major bug in the clock puzzle so it had to be kept out of the alpha build for the playtest. We also finalized the name of our game, we're calling it 'Home Evasion'.

The playtest went well, we had students from first year test our game and then fill out a survey about the game that we had made for them. We got a lot of feedback about the game, both positive and negative. We didn't run into many major bugs during the test, just a few minor ones, mostly to do with the movement mechanics of the game.

We were able to use our feedback to improve our puzzle and some of the mechanics as well as work on fixing the last puzzle for the beta build and the final playtest of our game.
