Prototype 1 (week 1)
In my Game Tools class this week, we were given the task of pairing up and creating a game in our pairs. We had a week to make our first two prototypes for the game, one per person. The prototypes were to be based on movement controls/mechanics that you would implement in your game.
Before we could start making the prototypes we had to brainstorm ideas for what we wanted the game to be. We spent a day or so thinking of ideas for the game and then we chose the one that we felt would be the most fun to play. The game idea we settled on was an Escape Room game.
Once we had chosen the actual game we wanted to make we made a rough plan of the games content and then we set about making the first two prototypes. We figured the two most important controls that we'd need in order to make a successful Escape Room themed game would be movement controls, to enable the player to traverse through the game world and then, a pickup and drop mechanic, to allow the player to complete the puzzles in the game.
We each took one of these controls and started making our first prototypes for our game.
